Book Design
As a book designer, I offer interior and exterior book design and typesetting services in a wide range of formats, specializing in academic monographs for university presses and literary texts for small-press publishers. I am also the founder of Low Frequency Press, which publishes book-like objects of marginal aesthetics and Threadsuns, a teaching press at High Point University.
PoetryI am the author of Absent Receiver (SpringGun Press, 2013), and with Derrick Mund, Chlorosis (The Operating System, 2018). My work seeks to examine the formal boundaries of traditions involving the codex and the lyric. Themes include fraught relationships with the environment, the digital, and the other.
ScholarshipMy research interests include twentieth- and twenty-first-century literature in English, new media poetics, and ecopoetics. My dissertation, "Contemporary Software Poetics," analyzes new, media-conscious poetic projects that bridge the print-digital divide. I've published articles on the role of the GIF as a tactically counter-productive medium in the workplace, and on Samuel Beckett's The Unnameable as a liminal text between modern and postmodern thought. |
